“When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew.”
– William Shakespeare
Today on the blog it’s Wedding Wednesday, and in mini-celebration, I am sharing Jacob’s surprise proposal to Alyssa at the Japanese Tea Gardens.
I was truly honored to have witnessed such a beautiful moment between these two love birds, one I know they’ll smile back on for many years to come.
Jacob & Alyssa met through church years prior. Jacob had the biggest crush on Alyssa but before he could tell her how he felt, she moved away. (Insert tears – I know, I’m such a mom it hurts.) Who knew that she would return a year or so later, back to the same little church. This time Jacob took no chances and expressed how he felt. They dated and were then a perfect match for one another from the start.
As with his devotion and love for Alyssa, Jacob wanted to ensure that when the moment came to propose, it was all that she wanted and more. As Jacob is in the Navy and stationed here in San Antonio, he wanted to do something completely special and propose at the beautiful Japanese Tea Gardens. He had made arrangements for his mother, Regina to fly in from California to be there to witness the sweet occasion.
Now to lure Alyssa without suspicion, he informed that they were simply dressing up to take nice “selfies” and candid pictures on their cell phones before his deployment to Iran.
Texts were exchanged for “go time” and I even had a random family partake on ‘fake portraits’ prior to capturing the moment. If you know me, I know no strangers, and was not about to blow my undercover photographer spy mission to capture this moment. I think this was a much better approach than hiding in the bushes in 104F weather.
Jacob guided Alyssa to the bridge and had the most beautiful proposal. Take a look. Yes, if you must know, I was tearing up the entire time.
Her reaction was priceless, so sweet!
Prayers for Jacob, as this month he is being deployed over seas. I thank you for your service to our country!
Wonderful event and session! What a great way to do it. Great shots!
Taking portraits of a family is such a good way to hide why you’re there!!! Totally a James Bond photo trick!
So cute!! She looks stunning in that dress!
So sweet! Love this location
